Sunday, September 19th, was a gorgeous fall day at Whaleback for our Open House and Dash for a Pass. Everyone was welcome to the mountain to ride the BMX track, skate on our halfpipes, jump on the trampoline and enjoy a BBQ all for free. Musical entertainment was provided by Tuck’s Rock Dojo and Farnum Hill Cider was also providing tastes of their delicious locally grown and produced ciders. 175+/- people attended and it was awesome to see the mountain alive with activity in preparation for the 2010-2011 season.
At 2PM we started the Dash for a Pass event. Dash for a Pass is a foot race up 700 vertical feet to the top of Whaleback’s 1,800 foot summit. There were 3 age categories for the male and female division with first place in each category receiving a season pass and second place some swag from Farnum Hill Ciders. Over 40 participants ran to the top and the winners were as follows:
| Place | 6-12 Male | 6-12 Female |
| 1 | Eli Weitzman | Paige Kehoe |
| 2 | Isaac Jacobs | Hannah Wittman |
| 13-18 Male | 13-18 Female | |
| 1 | Jacob Kornfeld | |
| 2 | Kenny Weitzman | |
| 19-64 Male | 19-64 Female | |
| 1 | Alden Hall | Kara Toms |
| 2 | Chris Lang | Kelly Keiffer |
We also pulled the winners of our 2nd round Raffle Madness, with new boots, new skis, a 2 hour clinic for 2 with me, a core team membership, and a paintball party awarded. Winners were pulled from our current season pass holder list for the 2020-2011 season. All in all it was a fabulous event; the day was perfect, the music was rockin’, the cider was delicous, and everyone had a great time. Thank you all for showing up, and I look forward to seeing you at the Whale this winter!
